Don Ryan retired from the Burlington Fire Department, Burlington, Iowa in April of 2021. He served on the department for 29 years, the last five as the Deputy Chief. Don has been married to wife Shari for 33 years and they are blessed with three children and seven grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family and has always been a fan of any type of sport.
Many Hats
Don has served the fire service in many capacities through his career (Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Hazardous Materials Technician, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Deputy Chief). He has served as a past officer of the Des Moines County Firefighters Association and the International Association of Firefighters (Local 301), and has been involved with numerous groups/committees during his career.
Education
Chief Ryan has an Associate Degree from Southeastern Community College in General Studies and a Baccalaureate Degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University.
