Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, marking the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed on January 1, 1863. It is a time to reflect on our shared history and celebrate freedom and progress.
